I see Sky/Yougov have followed Andrew's take on how Mayoral councils should be shown on a map.

Andrew is right on this. The map should show who has political/executive control, not who has a majority of councillors.

This a great idea for areas like Addiscombe in Croydon.
I represent a number of roads where there is no off-street parking as the Terrace housing from gardens are too small.
This is a great solution.

Worth a read on why Croydon's Suburban Design Guide delivered extra family homes in Croydon's wealthiest areas, but was opposed by Tory Nimbys like Chris Philp MP and current Tory Executive Mayor Jason Perry.
Building homes that appeal to first-time buyers is out of character for these suburbs.

At least 17 people killed in Russia’s deadliest attack on Ukraine this year More than 100 injured across country after Russia launches nearly 700 drones and dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles

I arrived in Kyiv last night, a couple of hours before Russia's latest massive drone and missile attack. Seventeen people were killed. I'm proud of the fact my newspaper, the Guardian, continues to cover Russia's bloody war against Ukraine. We are still here www.theguardian.com/world/2026/a...

And, of course, those previously let homes don't disappear, but end up in the homeownership market, boosting its supply.

Today the two-child limit is gone. Parents have told us what this will mean for their kids:

- A first-ever birthday party for a 10-year-old
- Better quality food
- Clothes that aren't completely worn out
- Going on the school trip without getting into debt
- A new mattress
- Swimming lessons

Happy Easter to everyone celebrating in London.

Amid the festivities, let’s remember the message of hope at its heart. No matter the challenges we face, there is always light on the horizon.

Thank you to our Christian communities for helping build a kinder city.

It is madness that with a growing Croydon Town Centre population that there isn't a large supermarket. Instead lots of more expensive convenience stores.

3 weeks ago 1 0 0 0

Croydon has failed to articulate a vision for the whole town centre that encompasses housing, employment, culture, retail, community safety + transport,
Instead, it obsesses over numerous small site master plans, without having an overarching strategy.

Last 20 years shows too many develpers believe that can build 30+ story residential skyscrapers in Croydon. Very few succeed, as rents don't sustain the level of debt needed.
Menta got planning permission for a 55 story scheme in 2011, never built. Instead they built two 25-storeys BTRs.

The current mayor has allowed office employment in the Town Centre to wither, with more office blocks becoming empty. Cheaper for developers to changing these into BTR schemes.
New build schemes can't compete, and struggle to get finance.

I am not a Gladiators fan but am watching the last 15 minutes. Emily from Croydon is crushing it. Lots of cool people come from Croydon: Sue Perkins, Loyle Carner, JB Gill, Stormzy, Dame Peggy Ashcroft, Kate Moss. And the BRIT School is here. It gets a lot of stick but I have loved living here.

A large outdoor stage set up for a St George’s Day celebration, with a group of performers standing in a row under bright stage lights. A crowd of people in coats watches from the foreground. The stage backdrop and banners display “Mayor of London” branding, red graphic patterns, and a stylised dragon illustration. A banner across the top of the stage reads “Celebrate St George’s Day.” The scene takes place in an open public square with buildings visible behind the stage.
