Yes there are nice points raised here but am I the only one getting tired of the ratio of pieces giving advice on how academic moms can carry the workload versus pieces on how institutions/funders/collaborators etc can make the workload more bearable? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Dopaminergic mechanisms of dynamical social specialization - Nature Longitudinal tracking of mice reveals that stable, specialized social roles emerge spontaneously within groups during a foraging task, with dopaminergic activity in the ventral tegmental area driving ...

New paper in Nature, @nature.com (go.nature.com/4c4OjCj) : how do social roles emerge in groups of near-identical individuals ? we find that they are neither predetermined nor fixed.

Dorsoventral hippocampus neural assemblies reactivate during sleep following an aversive experience - Nature Neuroscience Synchronization of sharp-wave ripples across the dorsoventral hippocampus during sleep supports coordinated reactivation that represents negative experiences more faithfully than positive ones.

Thrilled to see our paper published! I’m deeply grateful to the amazing @ggirardeau.bsky.social for trusting me to develop and carry it out. Many thanks as well to @azulsilva.bsky.social , @belalima-paiva.bsky.social and Eleonore for driving this work forward together.

Join us in Paris Sleep Day, 19th of May, a free one-day symposium dedicated to connect early-career researchers working on sleep in Paris and build a long-term local support network.
Registration and submission details are available here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

Hope to see you there! ✨

We need your help!!! 🧠🧪💤

If you are human, you fall asleep at least once a day! What happens in your mind then?

Scientists know actually very little about this private moment.

We propose a 20-min survey to get as much data as possible!

An axonal brake on striatal dopamine output by cholinergic interneurons - Nature Neuroscience Cholinergic interneurons act at nicotinic receptors to depress dopamine release, interrupting its relationship to dopamine neuron firing and supporting an inverse scaling of dopamine release according...

🚨 Excited to share our new study in @natureneuro.bsky.social! We (+ @stephcragg.bsky.social) show that ChIs (via nAChRs) continuously, and dynamically DEPRESS dopamine release! @oxforddpag.bsky.social @hls.exeter.ac.uk www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Inhibitory cells orchestrate neural activity in mouse brain A cubic millimeter of brain tissue, sectioned, stained and scrutinized over seven years, reveals in detail the role of inhibitory interneurons.

The most comprehensive map to date of cell structure and function in the mouse cortex reveals a previously unappreciated level of coordination among inhibitory interneurons.

Closed-loop modulation of remote hippocampal representations with neurofeedback Animal models of memory retrieval trigger retrieval with cues and measure retrieval using behavior. Coulter et al. developed a neurofeedback paradigm that rewards hippocampal activity patterns associa...

Two cool papers out in Neuron today on memory.

Demographic history and genetic variation of the Armenian population A whole-genome study of Armenians shows homogeneous genetic structure across the region, with a recent bottleneck explaining the distinctiveness of the Sasun population. Our findings reject the Balkan...

My first post on Bluesky is about our just-published paper! 🦋

The first whole-genome study on Armenian population, aiming to check the Balkan theory on their origins proposed by Herodotus, as well as their demographic history and genetic variation, is finally out! www.cell.com/ajhg/fulltex...
