Using little money but a lot of ingenuity, they built their homes from the earth itself with hyperadobe (open-weave bags packed with clay-rich soil). About $200 per year in total bills, thanks to solar energy and captured rainwater.

A lovely interview with some one envisioning and spelling out the world she is stepping into through art. Palate cleanser of changing focus.

Peter Diamandis is the top dog there at XPrize. He's awesome. His book 'Abundance' and talks about postcapitalism are great.. his next book is also inspired by the Whole Earth Catalog's "We are as gods and might as well get good at it". Balaji is libertarian, but still supports solarpunk.

Definitely absolutely possible! Some tech-positive artists have also been creating custom Stable Diffusion models from their own work, like Kirsten Zirngibl and Android Jones. www.kirstenzirngibl.com/projects/K3k...

Stable Diffusion & other open source AI can be run locally on a laptop. Each model & LORA has different training data, can also do custom. We stopped using Midjourney when revealed they were aggressively nonconsensually training on (+ not crediting) tons of working artists (some I know personally!).

Imagining a Writer’s Toolkit for Hopeful Climate Futures from Arizona State University's Center for Science and the Imagination

The critiques & explorations of AI ethics are definitely good. AI can be localized, ecological, low impact. Models ideally don't train on artists' work without consent, + they should be able to opt in/out. I do think AI can help visualize, actualize, & tend vibrant solarpunk postcapitalist futures!🌱

From Protest to Prototypes Why lasting change in the age of AI will come less from opposition and demands, and more from building parallel institutions that quietly replace what no longer serves us.

Systems don't disappear because they are criticized; they disappear when they are no longer necessary. 🦋

In the age of AI, building a working prototype is the most effective form of protest. Let’s move from demands to system design.

Imagine a future shaped by optimism. A place where clean energy, open space, and thoughtful design coexist in peaceful harmony. "A Brighter Age" is a meditation on the futures we once imagined, and perhaps still can.

In this video, Solarpunk Alana counters some criticisms of solarpunk - such as that it is just 'greenwashing' - and puts forwards her case for what a solarpunk world might look like across different categories.

The Future of Unions
The Future of Unions YouTube video by Andrewism

Once, unions shook nations and promised a better future. But today, their once booming voice has felt more like a whisper. Their mass mobilisation retreated into bureaucracy. Their gains rolled back by the most powerful ruling class in history.

Still, are unions our best hope?
