Cooked greens are, by and large, not my friends, but my mother made some collard greens at New Year’s that were actually tasty to me? A miracle, that

Yay, good sleep! Definitely worth celebrating

Drove half an hour to the farm to get them bc the grocery store that sells them when they’re in season was already sold out, but it’s worth it

Mmm, the first local strawberries of the season

Today, when I was sorting through some stationery on my desk, I discovered that I bought the same sheet of cute cat stickers twice. 😑 I have too many stickers and no herds of teenagers to give them to now

I went swimming today and it was great, but it would’ve been more great if the parents who brought their kids to swim would also teach them that other people are also allowed to be in the pool and they should be considerate

That guy (assuming it was a person and not a deeply annoying bot) was such an asshole. Who goes around jamming their nose in uninvited?

It's the only one I can count on to have a zillion anime and manga fandoms in the tagset

I think my favorite spring fic exchange isn't gonna run this year 🥲

It has never occurred to me to think my love of taking off work for my birthday was childish. A smidge self-indulgent, maybe (not that that would stop me), but childish? Nah

Part of my problem was, sadly, that I'd forgotten to vacuum my air purifier's filter for too long and it just added to the dust. 😓 But it's taken care of now and I do feel better, thank you!

I changed my sheets and vacuumed my bedroom and then an hour later went off on the longest coughing jag I've had in a week. The lesson here, I feel, is that cleaning is not worth it (and definitely not that waiting too long to do it kicks up enough dust to aggravate my body, definitely not)

It was always the same people and no amount of going “hey, there’s an account notes section for a reason” helped 😑

I was like 99% certain somebody didn’t leave a note when they should have bc it used to happen all the time when I worked at the Y. Coworkers would tell people things and never document it and then 8 hours later I’d take a phone call and be all ????

A medical office I was referred to last week called and left me a message asking me to call them back. I call back. The medical office has no idea why anyone would’ve called me but they’ll ask around. Thanks?

Tonight's challenge: shopping for a pregnancy pillow to replace my increasingly unwieldy piles of pillows without the algorithms deciding that I'm actually pregnant vs really hard up for a body pillow that I can have behind my back *and* in front of me at the same time

This morning I got to hear the opening song from Rent in Japanese, courtesy of the satellite radio in my car, and I’m delighted. 🎵 Subete wa REEEEENT 🎵

I think it's actually really responsible of you to acknowledge that you don't want to take on any kind of parenting situation. Sure wish a couple of my mother's exes had been as thoughtful about what "divorced mom of three" would actually mean in their relationship

The new doctor gives me distinct vibes of someone who played sports from the age of 2 on without ever suffering a major injury and thinks no one could possibly be fat without deliberately trying, but I could be wrong. He'll do for now, I suppose

Currently they are winning in “number of waiting room chairs without armrests” above all other medical offices I’ve been to since 2025

If I close my left eye and hold my phone at just the right angle, I can kinda read despite my dilated pupils, clearly ideal time to go watch some subtitled anime

Love to be the youngest person in the ophthalmologist office waiting room by a good twenty years every time I go for my yearly retina checkup

Yay, I slept until my alarm went off this morning despite being woken up a few times by coughing! Boo, I have so much less free time to fiddle around before work now!

It was already screwed up from my many, many late night coughing jags over the last two weeks, but now I might be slightly doomed

I dozed off on my couch this evening some time after 7 and woke up at 11:15, and I think I've really fucked up my sleep schedule now, bc now it's 2:30 and I'm tired but not apparently bedtime tired

The 1969 Easter Mass Incident

Content Warnings: Religion, food, symbolic cannibalism, symbolic gore, penis mention, Blasphemy, SO MUCH BLASPHEMY, weapons, war mention.  Mind the warnings and your health always comes first. Its a HILARIOUS story, I promise.

As always, all the names have been changed to protect people’s identities.  This is a long one, so Press J now if you want to skip it.

When my dad was a young man and still a practicing catholic, he participated in a small church communion that nearly got him and six other people excommunicated.

Father Patrick ran a small church outside of California Polytechnical and tended to be… rather more liberal in his interpretations of scripture than most of the church was, which made him something of a hit with the local students and liberally-inclined populace.

I need to share my favourite seasonal Tumblr post, the saga of Bread Jesus, by user gallusrostromegalus, about the 1969 Easter Mass Incident.
