Was outside for the press conference in the sign holding crowd. Deal reached, I don’t have the text yet, but I again expect southern alignment selection will be delayed but with guardrails on it and a timer on it, and that the mayoral election will ultimately determine the alignment. Nithya gets

Not only does this video detail Jackie Dupont-Walker's *extreme* conflict of interest that is driving this whole crisis, but I've also obtained Bass's motion, which she claims will 'not delay,' but which - fun fact! - will cause a huge delay. Full-on doublespeak territory.

Super interesting strategy to release this statement without also providing the actual text of your motion with flagrantly contradicts your 'full steam ahead' statement!

Putting all this in one thread for ease of sharing. Jacquelyn Dupont-Walker (Karen Bass appointee and Metro Board member) may be putting herself in jeopardy of a serious corruption probe for actions in which she's currently being assisted by Bass herself. THE FACTS:

I'm at a meeting with CD 3 candidate Tim Gaspar in Woodland Hills. He said he talked with the developer of the proposed golf course development, "knowing that I'm the next city council member." Wtf? What about the upcoming LA City elections? @unrigla.bsky.social

When I first heard about the Charter Reform process that LA was undertaking, I was so naively hopeful about it all. Now whenever I hear about it, it's cause the commission has been a total mess 😭

The LA Charter Reform Commission's Ad Hoc Committee finally executed their reform purge. Time to fight back.

Tell the FULL Commission to purge the Ad Hoc Committee instead, and put real reform back on the table.

Oh man, I actually love this idea. Why should adults be the only ones making decisions for them? They should have a voice, and this is a great way to active them in important processes like voting at an earlier age. Give them the opportunity to buy into their future and I think you’ll be surprised.

Some support in Los Angeles for lowering the voting age for school board elections specifically.

Some places are trying this out. Here's a piece on Newark from last year: boltsmag.org/newark-teens...

LAPD is finally getting taken up by the LA Charter Reform panel. What took so long? Some point to a tight timeline and crowded plate for the commission. Others say it's a political hot potato.
