But alas, I have that memory and it’s a really cool one. I’ve see the marathon just once in the daylight. I recall going to the start of it as a young kid, and obviously I’ve seen downtown Hopkinton many times.
It’s just such a cool vibe, though! And it’s the 130th!

It was such a unique experience, seeing the whole setup before the crowd is there. Before the energy arrives bright and early, and some people’s lives are forever changed.
People come from EVERYWHERE to run this marathon, and here I was in the dark, at the start.

I soon realized, wait! Framingham to Hopkinton… back roads… I’m on the marathon route a mere 12 hours or so before it begins!
I still don’t know entirely why there were bikes everywhere, but it was a SIGHT to behold!
As was the starting line as I ended up crossing it by the library.

Driving home from work tonight, I found myself driving past MANY bicycles. So many bikes. Up hills, in tandem, 3 or 4 at a time. People wearing headlamps, with illuminated wheels, some wrapped completely in Christmas lights! It was like a bicycle parade and it seemed so strange.

Happy 15th anniversary to Portal 2, a game that inspired me through its natural storytelling and mind-bending puzzle mechanics. I was ENGROSSED in this world and everything it had to offer. What a phenomenal benchmark for dark humor in games and unforgettable character moments.
