Farage is a pint-supping hero but Rayner is a vape-puffing villain. This is why — The i Paper The prospect of Angela Rayner becoming the Labour Party’s first woman prime minister is irresistible to much of the British media as it drools at the headlines in store.

Misogyny, classism or a mixture of both?
How Farage and Tice get an easy ride, but Angela Rayner is treated with contempt by the media.

Putney’s first hustings: the claims that didn’t survive the evidence - Putney.news Four candidates faced Putney residents at the first local election hustings. Every claim was fact-checked. Some survived. Labour sent a candidate from another ward.

Local #democracy in my part of London:

#Reform UK Party Limited, "which has three [(3)] candidates standing in each ward, sent nobody."

As is typical of #Farage's 'Grifting Operation' (masquerading as a #political party) - The names they put on the ballot = "Ghosts".

😾🇬🇧😾🇬🇧😾🇬🇧😾🇬🇧😾
TWO things i found on Threads that made me stop and think.

1. Confirmation that the media is biased against Labour and are working actively to bring it and SKS down
2. No surprise. Now imagine how Farage, the media darling, or any of his scummy crew would fare.

What should have happened: the REIT paid no tax but the Tice companies holding shares in the REIT paid £98k tax on the dividends they received.

What actually happened: none of the companies paid any tax.

Also, at fault, of course, is Mandelson himself, who utterly misrepresented his Epstein connections and dubious business dealings. Ultimately, tho, imo, it comes back to the PM, who took a gamble on Mandelson, which spectacularly backfired. Trust between Ministers and civil servants now ruined.

Blame also on other civil servants , eg in No 10, who failed to notify the PM immediately when the news was discovered, causing him unknowingly to mislead Parliament. Ministers may now be throwing Robbins under the bus; but, officials also threw the PM under the bus, exposing him politically. 🧵

‘Pure shock’: how ministers reacted to revelation of Mandelson vetting failure Inquiries into who knew what, and when, will be pored over in coming weeks and could ultimately decide Starmer’s fate

The mind boggles. Complete cock-up. The euphemism “due process was followed” may be technically correct, but is practically wrong in every way. 🧵www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/apr/18/pur...

I don't blame tge people who were "brainwashed" by promises to improve their lives.
I blame those that sold the country a pack of lies to further their own ends. They need to pay for the damage they caused & to be kept away from any chances of power.

So much for Trump saying peace talks progressing!, as Iran doubled down on its pledge to restrict ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz as long as the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports remains in place, as mediators scrambled to secure further talks before the ceasefire expires this week.

‘I feel like I’m losing her’: the families torn apart by older relatives going far right It starts with a ‘back in my day’ nostalgic meme – then suddenly your elders are sharing AI-generated ‘boomerslop’ and repeating conspiracy theories …

While so much research & concern has focused on radicalisation in young people – particularly young men – less is understood about the effects of a fragmenting political & media landscape on increasingly online boomers, the generation now aged from about 60 to 80 and families are being torn apart
