I'm probably an old head at this rate, either that or I'm screaming at the idea of "influencers"
I'm looking at Coachella videos thanks to the algorithm (TM) and why on earth are we at a point where 90% of the audiences are recording concerts on their phones?
What happened to the idea of living in the moment?

That's a wrap for VGM Con. Sunday, I got a double Splatoon comms block so I'll be busy throughout.
Thanks for another good year of video game music concerts!
I present a situation:
You play ping pong against your opponent and your opponent accuses you of cheating because you hit the ping pong ball with top spin.
Players, how would you react? TOs, if you heard this accusation, what would you do?

@xiphiasuniverse.bsky.social , I may have found your April fools team name.
This is now 2/2 failed AI transcriptions lmao
Enjoyed a few bands and did my merch run. Unfortunately my big appetite kicked in and went home to get dinner. I'll rest up today and return tomorrow afternoon for more shenanigans.
Video game music concert weekend
Attending VGM Con after work today. Tomorrow I'll be there for most of the event pending last minute shenanigans.
You mean to tell me it's a DDOS attack?
Actually this makes sense, vibe coding makes the underlying foundation suck but it can make things function. Intermittent errors though...
To my fellow computer science graduates, please remember to code by hand. We need you more than ever to save us.
And selfishly stop me from fixing up AI generated code that has been propping up like mad. [11/?]
We get this nonsense of consolidating guides and stack overflow answers to perfect a solution that is just inherently wrong or outdated and are conditioned to always believe it because the AI is "infallible".
Please save your developers who don't want to be reliant on AI. [10/?]
I end this unhinged ramble by saying, vibe coding is terrible because there's no protections or guardrails and you get what Bluesky is doing. Management conditioned everyone that it's fast and can speed up development cycles and that we can be even faster.
Instead... [9/?]
In development, you still need to know the concepts and fundamentals. Vibe coding doesn't teach non-engineers how to code, it just tells them the answers which has the reliability of an old toaster. Automation in flying should not eliminate how to fly a plane. [8/?]
You still need to know how to take off and land a plane with the knowledge you know. Automation has been everywhere in planes (see: the history of the Airbus family of planes) but it cannot replace the know-how of piloting one. [7/?]
Which means we have to fix processes for apps that are close to going live and actually instill proper guardrails to ensure devs aren't blindly following the answers AI tells them.
My analogy to this is like flying a plane. [6/?]
I do NOT defend AI in the slightest because all that it sometimes does is that it causes some of us engineers who are resistant to following AI have to fix some AI generated nonsense that went way out of control the minute it was used and nobody did any oversight to fix it [5/?]
But instead of actually understanding what the AI is telling you, you get moments where devs or non-devs just blindly follow the answer and believe the AI is infallible.
Thus, you get this case study of Bluesky, where the uptime would drive any DevOps brained person to go insane [4/?]
You get things like this where the platform is unstable and instead of actually understanding what's going on, some folks go "Hey Claude, tell me why this isn't working".
You get answers that are outdated, incorrect, or sometimes correct if you actually asked it correctly, which isn't often.. [3/?]
I've taken in to observe teams I've worked with to understand their vibe coding usage and sometimes it's used if they don't have knowledge on a tool or used to speed up processes with zero guardrails or protection. Unfortunately, when you leave vibe coding to those who don't know development.. [2/?]
re: vibe coding
Having worked with several folks that are heavily reliant on "vibe coding" -- some very talented engineers -- it has either been used as a "bail out" tool to fill in gaps left behind by talented engineers or as a crutch to speed up development [1/?]
Happy belated birthday!
