I loosened each knot as I spoke its name “I let go of fear,” I whispered, untying the first knot. “I let go of anger".. and so I continued until the string was smooth once again. I felt as light as the string, as if the wind had carried away all of emotions I had tied up.

So we began, and I tied knots for fear, for anger, for self-doubt. As I did I felt the length of the string grow heavier. As if it were holding the physical form of all these emotions.

When the string was full, my grandmother nodded and said “Now we untie them. One by one.”

“How do I know what to let go of?” I asked. She gave a smile that carried more wisdom than words. “You already know"
