Colin Carroll, a former top Pentagon official, said in an interview over the weekend that he's "not sure" if Department of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is OK.
"One NATO official, when asked for a reaction to the plan, replied, 'Did Putin write this for him?'...”

10. As part of the notice procedure, the alien is informed that he or she can make a telephone call to whomever he or she desires, including legal representatives. ICE ensures that telephones are made available for the aliens and that the aliens have access to the telephone lines. 11. Although there may be fact-specific exceptional cases, in a general case, after an alien is served with Form AEA 21-B, the alien is given a reasonable amount of time, and no less than 12 hours, including the ability to make a telephone call, to indicate or express an intent to file a habeas petition. If the alien does not express any such intention, then ICE may proceed with the removal, though such removal may not actually occur for many more hours or days, giving the alien additional time to express an intent. If the alien does express an intent to file a habeas petition, the alien is given a reasonable amount of time, and no less than 24 hours, to actually file that petition. If the alien does not file such a petition within 24 hours, then ICE may proceed with the removal, though such removal may not actually occur for many more hours or days, giving the alien additional time to file the petition. Further, because aliens subject to the AEA are often detained for several days before removal, they frequently have much more time to express an intent to file a habeas petition or to actually file such a petition. Moreover, these timeframes are consistent with, if not more generous than, the timeframes used for expedited removal procedures under Title 8.
NEW! DHS expands on its defiant middle finger to the Supreme Court's ruling that anyone subject to the Alien Enemies Act must get "reasonable time" to be able to "actually seek habeas relief."
They say they're only giving 12 HOURS for people to raise an objection, and 24 HOURS total to sue. Period!
Time for today’s edition of Least Surprising News of the Day.
U.S. citizens “self-deporting”?
What even does that mean?
That said, do you see what they’re doing now?
NEW: MORE BOMBSHELLS
The Pentagon’s former chief spokesman is warning that more “bombshell stories” about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are coming — set to leak within days, and that members of Hegseth’s own inner circle will applaud his inevitable ouster.
Meanwhile…
The White House is…
Omfg..I just can't
MINUTE ORDER: In yesterday's ruling vacating this Court's TROs, the Supreme Court held that Plaintiffs cannot be deported under the Alien Enemies Act without an opportunity to challenge their removal in federal court. It also determined that the appropriate venue for such proceedings is the Southern District of Texas or wherever Plaintiffs are currently held. This Court accordingly ORDERS that: 1) Today's preliminary-injunction hearing is VACATED; and 2) Plaintiffs shall file a Notice by April 16, 2025, indicating whether they believe that they still have a basis to proceed on their Motion for Preliminary Injunction in this Court and, if so, proposing a briefing schedule. So ORDERED by Chief Judge James E. Boasberg on 4/8/2025. (lcjeb1)
In the wake of last night's SCOTUS ruling, Judge Boasberg cancels today's hearing in the Alien Enemies Act (AEA) case.
The plaintiffs have until April 16 to decide whether they still want to seek an injunction.
No word yet on how he'll handle the alleged violation of his now-vacated TROs.
If China has troops on the ground in Ukraine fighting on behalf of Russia it's a massive game-changer
My suspicion is China will disavow any Chinese troops as unaffiliated mercenaries
I just introduced the Delete DOGE Act, which – you guessed it – would defund DOGE.
BREAKING via WaPo:
Mike Waltz and other members of Trump's National Security Council conducted government business over personal Gmail accounts, where they held conversations about highly sensitive information, including about military positions, powerful weapons systems, and more
FIRE HEGSETH! Nepotism is against the law. Absolutely moral failure. www.defensenews.com/pentagon/202...
Uh guys? NBC just found out a DHS staffer accidentally added a journalist to an email thread about an ICE raid in Denver. Yeah, a completely separate incident.
THAT staffer is being punished — so why aren’t Hegseth & Waltz???
Wisconsin residents are receiving text messages from a (202) D.C. area code, falsely urging them not to vote in the upcoming election. These messages are not legitimate.
Time to focus on Marco Rubio's role as a chief Trump enabler. Rubio is helping execute some of Trump's worst designs: Terminating program tracking Ukrainian kids, deporting people to foreign gulags, wrecking USAID, arrests with zero due process.
My new piece:

Trump wants Americans to believe all 261 men the U.S. government abducted and deported to El Salvador are violent, tattooed monsters.
Yet another of Trump’s categorical lies. This lie is particularly heinous — and deeply dangerous.
Shackled, shaved, and brutalized, 261 men have been abducted…
Grateful for your years of service, Finn – and that the ACA helped you and your daughter get health care.
