These quotes reflect why 85% of our unit signed the strike pledge: respect for our labor, fair pay, and a contract that honors the people and creativity behind these brands. Our contract is officially expired, and we’re ready for Hearst to show up this week prepared to negotiate a fair deal. ✊

We, the undersigned members of the Hearst Union, will not accept a contract that does not adequately address issues such as compensation, work from home flexibility, and AI protections with binding guarantees. Should we not receive such a contract, we are prepared to strike.

Workers all over the country are feeling the impacts of inflation, artificial intelligence, and returning to the office.

Let’s sign a contract that shows other media companies that we can be a family, no matter where we are in the world.

Amanda Furrer has dedicated her career to running, and while her passions are clear, she feels like her worth at Hearst is not. Without clear paths for promotions in an ever-inflating economy, all we ask is for management to bargain in good faith.

“Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?”

With the holidays in full swing, we’re sharing our wish list: fair compensation, AI protections, work-life balance, better benefits, and layoff protections. We’ll need solidarity from both the public and our fellow union members to make it happen.

Happy holidays, from the Hearst Union! ❤️

The best deal is a union deal!

Our Hearst Union members work tirelessly to compile the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday discounts. As we prepare for our first day of bargaining on December 8, we know the best deal is one that respects and values workers.

Our NYC teams flooded the floors of Hearst Tower with @wgaeast.bsky.social shirts! While we each bring unique perspectives to work (our strength!) the matching ‘fits are a reminder of the power we wield when we unite to improve our workplace. When things get tough, we’ll always stand together. #1u

When we show up for each other, we all win! Our Weingarten rights give us access to a union representative in disciplinary meetings, helping create a more supportive and transparent workplace.

“Together, we now have pathways for employees to file grievances with the backing and support of their union.”

Creating fair, transparent processes matters. Thanks to our union, employees now have clear pathways to file grievances (a formal complaint filed against the employer alleging a union contract violation) with the backing and support we all deserve. Another step toward a more equitable workplace!

In the tumultuous media industry, guaranteed severance is a necessary security. Our first contract ensures laid-off employees get at least 4 weeks of severance because when companies cut jobs, stability and respect should be guaranteed.

In our last contract, we won guaranteed annual wage increases to protect against salary freezes.

In our last contract, we won guaranteed annual wage increases to protect against salary freezes.

After many of our members went years(!) without any raises, we were proud to win guaranteed annual increases in our 2023 contract. Now, we’re aiming for annual salary increases that exceed the rate of inflation, providing us the means for the healthy and fulfilling lives we deserve.

“In our last contract, we raised our lowest salaries from $45k to $60k*. *for NY/CA, non NY/CA: $55,800”

Raising starting salaries in our 2023 contract was a huge win. As the cost of living continues to rise, we’re ready to keep building on that progress. Everyone deserves pay that keeps pace with life!

We have so far been unable to reach a deal with Vox Media that includes fair pay, AI protections, competitive benefits, improved severance and layoff procedures.

Should we not reach a fair contract tonight, our 250-member @VoxMediaUnion.bsky.social has overwhelmingly authorized a strike. ⏰ @vox.com
