Cool! Being an Electrician could be interesting. I'll have to evaluate some of these options myself. I've thought about switching to hardware (I did almost switch my major to EE from CS when I was in school many years ago), but Idk how long it'll be til AI starts to excel at circuit design, VHDL etc

I'd say there's a couple of niche programming langs I'm decent at but that's not helpful to have in the current job market. I am learning about AI (writing MCP servers, etc), but it doesn't spark my fire the same. I could keep going or look into other fields where the old SWE skills kight translate

What are the best options if you're kind of middle of the pack as a SWE? I made a couple of crap career decisions and despite a lot of self-study, I feel behind my peers with the same YoE. Idk if I should double down trying to make it to that top 10%, or just give up and start learning other skills.
