My mental state these days
Digital commissions are the easiest - but should I offer a couple slots for traditional just in case?
Confused in multi-medium.... ๐ตโ๐ซ
But you also have this dilemma of "If not a zine, then what is it?" because what most people consider to be a fandom based zine is so far removed from what a zine actually is, but there's also no other term for it.
It's a little off-putting to me at times. Zines are meant to be an independent vehicle for artists and writers to showcase their work regardless of public platform so rejections kind of goes against the whole point of a zine to begin with. I've talked about this with others and it's just...
Feel this. It's why I've retreated so much. I don't apply for anything anymore. ๐คท
EXACTLY!
Oh I know! But people like to pull that out on me whenever they don't like what I say about these things.
BUT! It did help keep Disney afloat just enough after it had released one of its biggest bombs in the history of the company so it is enough of a studio darling that they don't try to completely bury its existence.
Love that my favorite Disney movie and I are the same age - but I did find out why this movie isn't heavily promoted while doing a panel on this very subject!
The owners of the Basil of Baker Street books this movie was based on pretty much hated it.
If I have to hear the "But she's a mooooom so she can't be THAT bad" defense one more time, I will wreck a room like Jesus.
And before y'all dicks come at me with "BuT theY're DEmoNs!" to try to erase the very obvious racial contexts of the characters - don't bother because we're not watching the show the same way.
The funniest thing about this is that people will use the same argument in defense for Stella as if her and Barbie's screentime have been utilized the same way.
So like... it's not just misogyny - there's also some racism because they wanna give the white woman nuance and the brown woman none.
When I went back home, my aunt gave me all of my grandma's thread (or at least most of it) and a vintage sewing box... I just organized it.
Blitz: Stolas! Look! I found a cool plant for you!
Stolas: Oh! That's beautiful Blitz - but earth plants are so difficult to care for when you don't know what...
Blitz: Knew you'd say that so I stole this book!
Stolas: ................. you are the sexiest man alive.
He gives it to Stolas and just to be an extra good boyfriend goes "Here - I found a book about it!" then proceeds to have the most mind blowing sex of his life.
โUmm how could she be lesbian if she was married to a man, wouldnโt she be bi?โ
Yall need to look up wtf comphet means
Hi!
So my paycheck is a LOT smaller than usual and I might open emergency commissions soon.
BUT! In the meantime, if you'd like to browse my sale post - only one thing has sold (the Stolitz Halloween prints) and I've added some official Striker merch.
I will also link my Ko-Fi shop below.
Thanks!
Now is the time to remind everyone that I pretty much have all the supplies to make a Barbie cosplay save for the bodysuit and make-up - I just don't have anyone around me to bully me into making it.
No fear -> one fear meme template with the centre panel "cash might also show up"
So surely them dropping a Barbie short at the same time as the trailer means this is setup because we're going to see more of her next season!
I'm so happy...
ALSO!
If you would like to bundle anything from my sales post with any of the original drawings/sketches/paintings from my Ko-Fi shop - Just let me know!
Things have SOLD!
No longer available:
- The Stella charm and pin
- Hell Couture bundle
- Helluva Zine bundle
- And the previously sold Stolitz Halloween prints and charm
I've still got a lot left though! Please DM if anything looks interesting. I'm planning a post office trip on Tuesday!
A black and white photo of Mortimer working at his drawing table.
Superman #71 (1951). Superman is working at a kissing booth, and there is a large crowd of women in evening gowns lined up. Several already have their cash in hand. But Superman is saying "Why should anybody want to kiss me? I'm nobody important?" A cover blurb teases a "startling story of Superman's secret identity in 'Clark Kent's Secret Masquerade!'"
Artist Win Mortimer. #SupermanDay
