Flux #304 will be on display as part of the “Milestones: A History of Generative Breakthroughs” exhibition for the Art Blocks Marfa Weekend starting October 17. If you’re attending be sure to give it a watch & listen!

Wrapping up some Entropy Portrait proofs today and looks like I’ve got a new fan of my artwork, though I suspect he may be a little biased…
🎤 It’s hip to be a square 🎶
Many artists produce a self portrait and I wanted to join the club, but how? I took a studio photograph of myself and made a depth estimation gradient, feature masks (eyes, mouth), pulled quantized lighting from the original and fed it all into a modified version of my Entropy layered algorithm.
Decided to try my hand at YouTube as a way to document the work that I do and share it in a more effective manner. Watch my initial discussion here!

I turned 40 last week, decided to write a bit about how I felt about it and how it fits with my career goals.

Thankful my fellow Canadians did not succumb to populism and chose a more rational choice. Lots of work ahead but feeling a sense of relief right now.
Excited to see Spectral.js v3 get released!
I've used v2 in a few projects and it makes color mixing and gradients much more artistically similar to pigments. Looking forward to digging in and seeing what this new iteration offers!

Was reviewing prototype code and found an early build for Symbiosis. I actually really like the minimal look, took this art and used it for an album cover. May play around with it a bit more, see if I can do some tone-mapping, maybe invert it for prints, do a small run just for the fun of it.
Back to curating Symbiosis videos as of late; worked out a curation process so I can generate videos to judge both the composition and motion, before I queue a long 3D stereoscopic render. I intend to produce 23 hours of video content, so getting the process to be just right is crucial!
Been experimenting with generative music on my synth gear lately, this one is fairly dark and moody; was going for a disturbing cinematic feel.

I meant that more as "no need to apologize" than a do not 😛
Don't apologize, the propaganda networks down south are working overtime to minimize our anger and efforts to defend ourselves from illegal economic attacks. Sharing your voice is one of the ways to cut through and maybe reach someone who otherwise may not have known how we're feeling.
Thanks! That blog post is exactly what I referenced step by step while building my hexagonal coordinate system. I was so thankful when I stumbled upon it years ago :)
Haven't had much time for my art lately as I've been focussed on developing a game. Been working out how I'm going to make a procedural hexagonal tile map. I won't post about it too much here, but if you want to follow my progress check out my game dev account @combomash.bsky.social
It’s been really dry lately and I forgot to run a test pattern for a few weeks, as I had not been printing anything lately. Yellow print head dried out and had to waste some ink cleaning it. Back to normal but a little expensive lesson on my part.
Really like this one 👏
Oh, less taxes you say? In exchange for what? Importing the wonderful American pass-time of school shootings, fearing the police state, financial ruin if I ever get sick or injured and slow poisoning of the air, water and food due to the nut jobs wanting to deregulate everything? How aboot fuck you!
Playing my track "Carbonara" live while WaveShapes 229 visualizes. I'm focussed on game-dev right now but have picked up my music making hobby again. Thinking it would be fun to pair custom visualizers with any new tracks I may produce. TBD if I have time for that.

Maybe once I've curated the outputs I'll consider archiving the results on-chain though. Could be a good excuse to make a custom contract like I've been wanting to for ages, with all the benefits of not having to worry about platform restrictions.
Had plans to release a free project on-chain (Base maybe) to get community help curating outputs, but I just don't see it as viable right now; too many quality projects sitting un-minted. I'll have to do it the old-fashioned way and just generate sets of a hundred and pick myself over the next year.
I had to save this for
Wow, I had no idea this was a solo effort. I had assumed it was an official part of the Bluesky team, based on how it hit some news cycles. I hope you can find some additional help if/when you're ready for that. Looking forward to giving Flashes a try!
Studying the Godot game engine lately (C#) and I really like the node-based ideology. Haven't dug into 3D graphics or shaders yet, but I'm feeling pretty confident in the tool for my game-dev needs. Starting my game by building a FSM and establishing a test framework, I like laying foundation first!
Wanting to make generative music and #TrackerM8 is perfect for this. Using the Deluge for some granular FX while giving MIDI modulation a try. The headless DIY setup is a bit clunky but it works, though I can't sync notes due to latency in RG353VS display emulation.

First it was a border crossing issue, so we spent $1B as a show of good faith. Then it was fentanyl, which is bullshit. Then is was potential annexation. Now it's our banking? FFS America, can you fuck off already and actually fight for your country before it's too late. My mental state right now...
Made a Dirtywave M8 headless using a Teensy and RG353VS to try and convince myself I don’t need the real thing. Even got MIDI working, but sadly there is a slight audio delay that makes combining other gear impractical. Perhaps the restriction is a good way to focus my efforts.
