I have a gamedev joke but nvidia would say it's no laughing matter and it doesn't change the artistic control
the world bowels are shifting too
A comparison between plain rendering on the left and the new DLSS5 one on the right, which looks flatter thanks to some out-of-nowhere "hello I'm an influencer" lighting and, anatomically, more generic. So that it looks like every AI generated image ever because personality is now a sin, I guess
I always thought that pure photorealism in games showed a depressing lack of style but I take it back, plain photorealism is stylish af compared to the mind-dumbing ex-twitter verified user on the right
years ago, even before all this ai shit, I read about grammarly and thought it might help check the grammar of my non-native English writer ass. Thankfully before deciding to (not) use it I read how it worked and, let me tell you, it was already shady af
3 techniques I used to handle obstruction in my indie game
Did you notice the 4th? 👀

Not a single person has yet been able to answer my fundamental question about AI “writing”: why would someone want to play a game that nobody even bothered to write?
I think it depends on the person and some do learn to live with it, like an old friend that feels like they've been there forever and you don't really like them but you also wouldn't recognize yourself without them (sometimes this friend can do horribly good jokes tho)
same mucho very mucho
were they playing Stayin' Alive in the background for max accuracy?
wish I was there just for you 💖

their final selling point is gonna be "You won't have to use your brains anymore" and then it will be Night Of The Brainless 2, The Apotheosis
ahaha, actually Xara moved back to a "buy once" (other than subscribe) approach after backlash for that decision, but I had moved to Affinity already and now I have all my documents in that format (plus it seems it became quite costly)
(I'll continue using v2 but don't know about v3)
My story is I was using Xara Designer for more than a decade (cheaper, faster, more agile than Illustrator), then 2 years ago Xara shifted to an Adobe-like monthly subscription and I shifted to Affinity. Which I adapted to even if it's clunky at times, but now I don't trust this new move at all :|
Wait, so I'm discovering just now that Affinity has been bought by Canva and now all of its products are merged into one that is free except for AI features? Which sounds nice aka free because fuck AI, until you realize that Canva is aaaaall about AI so I don't trust them at all? RIP Affinity? 🥲
On Tuesday 10, next week, @iamleyeti.bsky.social will be presenting his workshop about writing short stories as a way to prototype game narratives.
The presentation can be access through Eventbrite here: www.eventbrite.com/e/prototypin...
Presentation on March 10!
Workshop starts on April 14!
Yeah, looks like we will soon release a new experiment in playable philosophy called
>> 'HAMM-3R" <<
(made with @amidos2006.bsky.social and @demigiant.com and others who are not on Bluesky).
We will demo it and give a short talk in Valletta on March the 24th :) Come say hi!

Article title: "Unity says its AI tech will soon be able to prompt full casual games into existence"
Article excerpt: "AI-driven authoring is our second major area of focus for 2026," said Bromberg. "At the Game Developer Conference in March, we'll be unveiling a beta of the new upgraded Unity AI, which will enable developers to prompt full casual games into existence with natural language only, native to our platform—so it's simple to move from prototype to finished product."
Just what we needed from a gamedev engine: a way to fill the market with even more slop, as fast as possible. Unity, why would you focus so much on things whose only yield for us gamedevs is a sinking depression? It seems like you really don't like us anymore
I had the chance to work on this game as a gameplay and UI programmer.
If you like BSG, you should definitely check it out!
(I know, gifs are démodé. I still like them tho, what can I do)
