It's been a very productive month. Finished 2 large paintings and a handful of smaller ones. Also feel like some smaller nuanced things have started clicking in my work as well.

No reason in particular. You are not worried about exacts when doing this. Only the relationships between the values. You can use any setting that works for you.

Photoshop life hacks!

Greyscale view mode: View > Proof Setup > Custom > Device to simulate > Dot gain 30% > OK

Now use CTRL+Y to toggle B/W mode on and off while also being able to use eye dropper on true colors.

Works with current instances of PS CC.

Lifehack #2

Horizontal flip:
Edit > Keyboard shortcuts > View > Flip Horizontal > [Set to shortcut of choice]

Allows you to flip image without effecting the image itself. Much friendlier on your computer.

Works with current instances of PS CC.

What are your favorite art museums?
Specifically those who focus on wildlife and nature/landscape art? 🐑

A very interesting read. The idea of Umwelt is so fascinating. In a non stop world we are chasing the next big thing with a constant stream of stimuli. We all should take the time to stop and be still for a moment. To observe what is around us. To find beauty in the subtle nuance of existence.

Feel like I’ve been figuring out something in my art the past few months. Been playing around with softer contrasts and more subtle value shifts. Not sure where it’s going yet, but I’m liking the results.

A wolf leaping, forelegs raised, tail aloft, ears flattened and mouth snarling. The paws drag a line of sparkling droplets.

An illustrative abstract image featuring a barn owl, red fox, and many, many rabbits.
The image is in a limited color pallet, oranges, browns, red, and black on an off white background.
The upper parts of the image are of a rabbit made of bone and shadow, with a red ribbon trailing between its ribs and a skull like shape. The barn owl has a wing extended from left to right, showing the back of the wing.
The second rabbit has eyes open wide, and a third eye open. Energy ribbons extend from that third eye, showing rippling abstract forms. Echos of echos, containing spirals, curves, and rabbits.
The lower part of the image has a large red fox, with a three part vignette of a fox seeking, hunting, and catching a rabbit.

There are over 10 rabbits dotted through out the patterned background.

Close up crop featuring the fox’s head and for paws. The background is a mix of organic hooks, chevrons, and ripples.
