#1001albums: Day 101: The Byrds: Fifth Dimension: 1968. Classic folk-rock psychedelia album. Best known for Eight Miles High, banned by many radio stations of the day because they suspected it was about drug use (they were right!). An eclectic blend of traditional tunes and their own songwriting.
I own (and absolutely adore) Dusty (Not Actually) in Memphis, but I think this album is even better overall.

Jesus and Mary Chain had blijkbaar door dat ze na het versplinterende debuut Psychocandy niet echt dieper konden gaan. Ze kozen een andere weg: geen feedback meer, wel akoestische gitaren en mooi en verstaanbaar zingen. 1/3

By coincidence, my second Oasis album of the day after #AlphabettiDischetti earlier. Must be 30 years since I listened to two in one day. IMO, this is the stronger effort. More variety, better produced.

#1001albums: Day 99: Neil Young: After The Gold Rush: 1970. Another banger from Neil Young, I really love his early albums. Side 1 of this album is particularly epic, especially the title track and the ranting polemic of Southern Man.

A bit of a non-entity. Not sure what it's trying to be. Instantly forgettable.

The Beta Band - Heroes to Zeros
Second day in a row I'm scratching my head as to why an album is considered top 1001 worthy.
I enjoyed this, it reminded me of Eels and early Weezer, but it is nothing special at all. As borne out by a 74 on metacritic.

#1001albums: Day 98: The Beatles: 1968. A lot of epic late Beatles on this album, and a few fillers of course. Overall though I've always really loved it. Favourites are probably Blackbird and While My Guitar, both of which are certainly pointing towards their imminent solo careers.

Genuinely scratching my head as to why this is on the list. I know Macca's a legend and all that, but this is nothing above average except for 'Maybe I'm Amazed'.
Would another artist's solo debut get this leeway?

Perfect soundtrack for today. "1969," "I Wanna Be Your Dog," and "No Fun" are absolute all-time bangers. This is really a six-star album, imo, due to how far ahead of its time it was and the influence it had.

#1001albums: Day 97: Pentangle: Basket Of Light: 1969. beautiful folk-rock classic to start my day today, probably their finest album. I love Thompson's double bass in this band, his jazz flavours gave them something of an individual sound.
