digital illustration of Skylla, a tall and very slender woman with long dark hair and prominent dark circles under her eyes. To the left she is looking down at the viewer, pointing her broadsword at them with an angry scowl. Her other hand holds a skull and her hair is billowing behind her. Her fingernails are dark and pointy. She is wearing an Edwardian tailor made, consisting of a long coat with accentuated shoulders and a long skirt. Around her neck is a blood red ribbon. Her clothes are windswept as well. To the right is a closer view of Skylla’s exhausted yet wrathful expression. She is leaning on the grip of her sword with one hand, the other on the blade, drawing blood. You can now also see that the pommel is a skull. Once again there’s wind whipping her hair around her face and making the ribbon fly. The illustration is black and white except for the red ribbon and the few drops of blood. Her tailor made and hair are dark grey and have a grainy texture that mimics that of the inspiration image. Said image from the book “Capital and Labor” can be found in the bottom right corner. It was drawn by Paul Krafft in 1907 and shows a monument of skulls (which is also the title of the picture) at night. A plaque reads “in memory of the victims who were crushed under capitalism.”
catching up with #30DaysofCharacters - here's No. 8: Skylla 🗡️ channeled my disdain for capitalism into this one. and experimented with textures
