Day 9: What if?
What if systems were built around survivors' needs? What would change?
#saam #30DaysofSAAM
Everyone who came to the police would have access to survivor advocates.
Every church or school or organization or corporation would provide access to survivor advocates.

The same event is going to affect everyone in a different way, you know? What can be validating for one person could be damaging for another, like the fish and the cat. To be good advocates, we need to remember that. ❤️🙏🏽 #30DaysofSAAM #SAAM
El mismo evento va a afectar a la gente en maneras diferentes, sabes? Lo que sea algo validante para una persona podría ser dañino para otra, como el pez y el gato. Para ser defensores buenos, tenemos que reconocerlo. Gracias. ❤️🙏🏽 #30DaysofSAAM #SAAM
Day 8: Strength in Diversity
Why is it essential to recognize that survivor experiences are not one-size-fits-all?
#saam #30DaysofSAAM
Every person is different. Every experience is different. Every healing journey is different.

One action I’m taking to center SA survivors in my community is learning how to better support them. Knowing how to comfort people who have been through that kind of trauma requires incredible patience and empathy. It’s difficult, but it’s not impossible!! (Day 7) #30DaysofSAAM #SAAM
Day 7: SAAM Day of Action
Wear teal and share one action you are taking to center survivors in your community.
And a special reminder that if a man can't be trusted to not rape a woman, then he shouldn't be trusted with a nation.

#30DaysofSAAM Keeping survivors at the center of our work is crucial. Survivors' needs are of the utmost importance: Survivors are the experts of their lives, and centering them allows our actions to focus on their needs in a compassionate, effective, and individualized way.
Day 5: Strong Sundays
Express why keeping survivors at the center makes our movement stronger.
