The theme for day 22 of #31DaysOfGravestones is #Landscape. Despite appearances, this view is, in fact, a cemetery - the cemetery of the former Exminster Asylum in Devon. My great-grandmother is one of many patients buried there. Two stone crosses are just visible if you look closely.

Day 21 of #31DaysOfGravestones, and the theme is #Bronze. This is not the metal but the colour; another gravestone at St Mary’s Church in Brixton, Devon. Over the years several members of the Rowse family married my Scoble ancestors; it’s all rather complicated!

A collection of different sized gravestones, most of which are carved in slate. The carvings are still crisp and easy to read.

#31DaysOfGravestones and the theme for day 19 is #SocialGroup. You should just about make out the surname ‘Scoble’ on some of these; in fact, all of them are my Scoble ancestors.
