La misión, realizada por el EM ATT 01.338 “Albret” junto con el 25.º Regimiento de Ingenieros Aéreos, validó procedimientos de aterrizaje sobre superficies de hielo natural, considerando factores como el espesor del hielo, la fricción y la distribución de la carga en el tren de aterrizaje. El A400M, con un peso máximo superior a 140 toneladas, puede transportar hasta 37 toneladas de carga, incluyendo vehículos y helicópteros, y opera eficazmente desde pistas cortas o improvisadas gracias a su tren de aterrizaje reforzado y motores turbohélice. Esta demostración amplía las opciones de movilidad táctica europea, permitiendo apoyo logístico, inserción de personal y operaciones especiales en condiciones polares sin depender de infraestructuras fijas. Además, refuerza la capacidad de la OTAN para proyectar fuerza en el Ártico y responder ante escenarios de conflicto, búsqueda y rescate o patrullas de soberanía, consolidando la importancia estratégica de esta región en competencia geopolítica y militar.
