hard agree. I wrote this on the #AAS243 feedback board. iPosters are terrible. people don't stand by the correct screen. there's less mingling. and tbh after a day of staring at screens (talks) the last thing I want to do is stare at brighter screens
I had the pleasure of meeting Óscar at #AAS243. Please read his post - he is defiant against a hostile system that is worsening for immigrants, and his story is brave and important

After an intense start and long pause, we are back to posting here! Quick recap: the #AoTASK event at #AAS243 in NOLA was our biggest EVER with an audience of 700! Watch all 2 hours 46 minutes of the unfiltered livestream here: m.youtube.com/watch?v=I_Mn...
With many thanks to the @aasoffice.bsky.social, we are happy to report that abstracts for #AAS243 are now available in the NASA Science Explorer (SciX) library! Interested in more holdings updates? Check out the latest release reports here: s.si.edu/3SX5KLF

I spilt water during my flight home from #AAS243. I cannot *stress* your reminder enough
Hey #AAS243 attendees! Having just rolled off the DPS committee, can I just say how useful it is to us to have folks fill out the post-meeting survey? We can't plan the meetings you want if you don't tell us what you want.
(For instance, make comments about masks and how much you wanted them!!)

Exciting news from #AAS243.
I’m quoted in this Scientific American story about a possible primordial dark/low surface brightness galaxy detected in the radio at #GreenBankObservatory, presented at #AAS243. They took out all the careful caveats of course! (But I know to expect that)

Last week, @cal_bridge #Astronomy scholars ventured down to New Orleans, LA for the 243rd meeting of the @AAS_Office to #ExploreAstronomy.
#AAS243 provided our scholars an opportunity to gather for dinner and share their research, stories, and experiences.
It's cold outside, with a little snow on the ground here in west TX. Semester starts tomorrow. So I'm sitting here wondering if I should work in Blackboard on classes, or if I should sit with a blanket and read this book @deechiebaby.bsky.social suggested to me at #AAS243... #iTeachPhysics
I don't live in Nashville so I don't get to see the Vanderbilt folk much, but I got to catch up with a bunch of them at AAS and I'm so grateful to have such a supportive, friendly, and inclusive department in which to do my work and be allowed to thrive. Love y'all ❤️

Heard from two separate colleagues they tested positive today after #AAS243… i masked lots, and used nasal spray… so fingers crossed for a few more days of negative tests 😬
Negative COVID test
Woo, a negative COVID test (and no symptoms) after #AAS243. Hope everyone else is negative as well!
My abiding memory of #NewOrleans is that drivers don’t stop for pedestrian crosswalks even when the lights are flashing until you step in front of their two tons of speeding metal, and sometimes not even then. And then shout at you for making them stop. A thoroughly unpleasant city. #aas243 #NOLA
New Orleans - for #AAS243 - was scientifically a blast. But the city remains amazing. So much good music (wjblues.com yoshitakaz2tsuji.bandcamp.com) & so much good food. Stand out: the blackened redfish at Coop's Place (www.coopsplace.net) which I had a decade ago, and have been craving ever since.
Some #AAS243 highlights! Had the most amazing time with my SAO Astro REU cohort and met up with my mentors, aNd presented my iposter :D!

Had a great trip, and the students did awesome!
I dunno, it's started to grow on me since December. They're available offsite/for a long time, and need not be done 5 weeks out to get through university print shop before the holidays.
An easy improvement - leave them up on screen by default for whole morning/afternoon, not just 1 hour. #AAS243
Just arrived back from #AAS243 and the return trip involved driving home from the airport in a TRULY harrowing snowstorm and I had planned to do some work tonight but I might just sit quietly and contemplate my mortality instead 🫠

That’s a wrap on #AAS243! We absolutely loved seeing everyone who stopped by the booth + are so grateful for our team of awesome booth staff. Cheers to a week of fun space fashion, and get home safe everyone! 💜🔭
p.s. If you missed something at the booth, code AAS*243 still works online for 10% off!
I got on a plane leaving NOLA at 6am today, and just now woke up in my bed at 4pm pacific time 🤣 I think that’s a spot-on indicator of how exhausted I was from #AAS243 (worth it though!!)
My new group @astromusers.bsky.social returned from #AAS243 with awesome ideas, building great memories with old and new friends. 2024 will be an exciting year. Thanks for all the stimulating exchange.
