Keeping kids with family and trusted caregivers during a crisis helps protect children from the trauma of separation.

We are so thankful to @governor.ca.gov for signing #AB495 as well as to bill author Asm. Celeste Rodriguez and the others who fought to see it signed.

AB 495 has 2 parts: (1) A caregiver form for an adult the child already lives with to handle school/medical needs — no custody change, parents can override. (2) A court-approved short-term guardianship a parent can nominate for emergencies. It keeps kids stable, not separated. #ca #ab495
