Celebrated #PathologyDay by finishing up at #ACVP2019. So fortuitous that this year’s meeting coincided with both #NationalPathologyWeek & #InternationalPathologyDay. A great event, & lots of fun celebrating its 70th anniversary. Can’t wait for 71!

Meanwhile, in ‘clinical pathology world’, the ASVCP shows how classy it is! Attendees beginning to arrive for the night’s event are greeted with a rather nice cocktail. #ACVP2019

More volunteer work, this afternoon, at #ACVP2019. Our board exam’s TIWG spent a couple of hours evaluating exam Qs. Having been on the Exam Comm or it’s affiliated committees since 2006, I can assure our residents/exam candidates that we really care about the process.

My favourite newish event at our annual meeting is the community service project where we put together care kits for homeless shelters. This year, in honour of #VeteransDay, they’ll be helping homeless veterans. #ACVP2019

A great way to end #NationalPathologyWeek

Love catching up each year with Dr Jim Britt from the Vet Diagnostic Lab in Little Rock, AR @ARDeptofAgricul. My first US #VetPath mentor—spent a month with them in 1995, 3rd yr of vet school. I came over from the UK, thanks to a @cldavis_vetpath award. #ACVP2019

Loving the new logo. Thanks for the little pins, @ACVP! Missed them last night because I’m old & had to retire early! 😂

Lots of good digital pathology stuff going on at #ACVP2019. Standing-room, only, for Dr Baras’ great presentation. Clearly, lots of interest. #aiReady @HopkinsMedicine

Don’t believe the stories about pathologists being nerds. (Well, ok, some of us...) Pathology rockers extraordinaires, AC/VP, did a fab job at the #ACVP2019 opening reception. Here’s a little of their version of Johnny Cash’s Folsom Prison Blues.

Equally proud of Christina Stevens (2nd year DVM @CSUVetMedBioSci) for her wonderful #ACVP2019 mentorship abstract & poster. Christina couldn’t be here, but Sabrina & I have been flying the flag & discussing it with attendees!

Important topic for #NationalPathologyWeek

Some really helpful guidelines for histological grading of canine mammary tumours, based on the new suggested standards.

Dr Peña discusses the importance of standardising criteria to improve diagnostic accuracy of benign vs malignant mammary tumours. In particular, the new standards set the mitotic count at ‘6 or more per 10 hpf’ for malignancy.

Picked up my copy of the new @cldavis_vetpath Surgical Pathology volume 2! Looks as fab as Vol 1 is. If you want a copy of Vol 1 &/or 2, see Bruce to order—the 25% discount price will still apply if you order now! ($30 each, instead of $40). Amazing colour images.

Thanks for the coffee, @cldavis_vetpath! And even more thanks for diverting money to provide pathology education for vets in Zambia, in lieu of providing food at today’s workshop.
