Le problème, si on pense alternative comme équivalence, c'est qu'on va nécessairement juger durement l'alternative qui, justement, n'a pas un niveau équivalent selon les critères ou l'alternative dominante excelle : si on juge le vélo sur la vitesse maximale et le confort, jamais on ne le choisira face à la voiture. Si on juge sur le bruit, la pollution, la mortalité, la soutenabilité… tout de suite, on va changer de discours. De la même manière, pas mal de logiciels libres sont jugés durement parce que certains points ne sont pas équivalents sur les points forts de leurs alternatives propriétaires : ça peut être l'interface moins bien fichue, la moins bonne intégration avec d'autres services… mais on oublie aussi que les logiciels libres sont souvent plus propres, sans traceurs, sans pub, ils te sursollicitent moins et vont souvent droit au but au lieu de te perdre dans des millions de fonctionnalités quand il y en a 3 ou 4 qui t'intéressent vraiment. D'ailleurs, « alternative » ne veut pas dire « équivalence », mais « alternative » ne veut pas non plus dire « concurrence » ! Parce qu'être en concurrence avec quelque chose, ça veut déjà dire se placer sur le même segment, avec les mêmes ambitions. Et souvent, quand on balaie rapidement des alternatives libres sous prétexte qu'elles n'arriveront jamais à concurrencer le propriétaire, bah on oublie que ces alternatives ne se placent pas forcément sur le même segment et avec les mêmes ambitions.
