This would have made it to #TreeFlowers for #WildflowerHour if I had kept an eye on the time! The tiny female flowers of Corylus avellana that I spotted in a hedge along our High Weald lane this week.

Some superb Purple Toothwort (Lathraea clandestina) and Moschatel (Adoxa moschatellina) at Roman River Valley NR today in Essex. The rust Puccinia adoxae on one of the Moschatel too. A huge stand of Red Currant (Ribes rubrum) should host some interesting moth larvae before long. #wildflowerhour

Another late entry for
#wildflowerhour. I blame the clock tinkering. I don’t know what time it is most days but now I shall be jiggered for a week. Anyway, there are so many English Bluebells out in my corner of South-east England already that the choice is obvious - plus Wood Anenomes.
Love these little thickets of Red Deadnettle which guard the gateway to every field down our lane. The word ‘pink’ only came to describe the colour in the 17th century. Before then, ‘red’ was used for any colour from crimson to pink, which is why many pink wildflowers are called red #wildflowerhour

Duncliffe Woods impressed today with extensive swathes of Bluebells (incl a lovely white-flowered one) creating magical carpets of colour.
Plus, plenty of Wood Anemones - a pretty pink blush on the underside, delicate Barren Strawberry and gorgeous Greater Stitchwort flowers.
