A cluster of six daisy-like flowers, but very close to the gravelly ground. When seen from above, these flowers look like they're springing almost directly from the earth. Seen from a low angle, as in this photo, it's clear that in the couple of inches below the flowers are narrow, pointed leaves. The flower petals are white to very light pink, but with pink undersides. The centers of the flowers are yellow. The image looks a bit subdued, as it was overcast when I took the photo.

A white fawn lily stands beside a dirt forest trail, its six swept-back petals curving upward and outward around pendant yellow stamens. The slender stem rises from a low cluster of broad, smooth green leaves. The forest floor around it is carpeted in moss, low ground cover, and scattered pine needles, with a fallen twig crossing the soil nearby. Behind the flower, the trail stretches into a sun-dappled conifer forest, where tall straight trunks recede into soft morning light filtering through the canopy.

The trunk of a large beech tree has star chickweed flowers growing out of it. This was a decided WTF moment that I have never repeated. There are star chickweed flowers at the base of the tree and something (insect, bird, who knows) must put some seeds in a damage spot in the trunk that also just happened to have dirt in it. Or not and you come up with a better story.
The Friday Digital Archive Dive knows that most people don't think of beeches as flowering trees but has absolute proof that they are.
