Stating: "What started as weekly conversation between us eventually transformed into a podcast when we realised those conversations might be helpful to share more widely. We wanted to make respiratory science feel accessible, not intimidating, whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience. If we can help people stay curious, stay informed, and maybe even enjoy the commute a bit more, we’ve done our job."

My passion for healthcare science started when my daughter was diagnosed with asthma and allergies. I wanted to do something to help others with respiratory conditions so I decided to go back to school. We have an amazing healthcare science degree at Ulster University that keeps evolving, making this a great time to study respiratory and sleep sciences! It is an amazing job and so rewarding to see the difference you can make. -Coral Trainor Respiratory and sleep physiologist, ARTP workforce committee member
This Healthcare Science Week we are sharing stories from #ARTP members across the UK. Today Coral Trainor and Salma Liaqat share their reasons for choosing a career in respiratory and sleep physiology - both were inspired by family health challenges.

"We had teaching in respiratory, neurology, cardiac, audiology, and vascular. I felt like all the disciplines involved the practitioner doing something to the patient, other than respiratory. It was more about communicating and engaging with the patient. That sat nicely with the kind of person I am." Molly Sobola, Chief respiratory physiologist interviewed in inspire about her career.
Quote "Completing the [ARTP practitioner] exam provided me with a strong foundation of both the theory and practical aspects of lung function testing, which has greatly enhanced my expertise and contributed to my success today." Eva McKenna, Interview in SNews about moving from Northern Ireland to Australia as a respiratory and sleep physiologist
