Celtic progress in the #ScottishCup with victory at Rugby Park π
#AUCCEL | #CelticFCπ
Hard going for Celtic against Auchinleck but a win is a win.
And at least the match didn't end up being added to the list of Celtic's worst ever results!
Onto the next round. And a new striker(s) hopefully...

Can you think of any other examples of sides that play at a Beechwood Park?
Or other grounds around Scotland or the world which have shared names?

Other examples of grounds with the same name can cross into different sports.
Old Trafford is famously the home venue of Manchester United and is also the name of a cricket ground in the same city.

Many other grounds have very similar names, such as:
Anfield (Liverpool), Annfield (Stirling)
Fir Park (Motherwell), Firs Park (East Stirling)
St James' Park (Newcastle), St James Park (Exeter).
The last one has just an apostrophe difference!

Other teams in Scotland have grounds with the same name, including:
Station Park (Forfar Athletic, Nairn County)
Victoria Park (Ross County, Buckie Thistle)
And there's been other grounds like this, such as Recreation Park and Central Park.

Celtic fans will definitely have fond memories of grounds called National Stadium.
You find these around the world, including Chile, Singapore and, formerly, Wales.
And, of course, Estadio Nacional in Lisbon, scene of a Celtic 1967 triumph.

A common name of grounds around the world is the Olympic Stadium. Examples include Rome, Berlin and London.
There was once an Olympic Sports Ground (better known as Nelson Recreation Ground) next to Celtic Park.

Another example with a Celtic link is Barrowfield.
This is the name of Celtic's training venue, recently upgraded.
A Barrowfield Park was also Clyde's former ground, where in 1889 Celtic won their first trophy (North Eastern Cup).

Some names with more than one football location have a Celtic link.
The most obvious is Celtic Park. There's been two of these in Glasgow.
Elsewhere, other teams have played at a Celtic Park in locations such as Belfast and Castlebar.

Four current teams in Scotland play at a ground named Beechwood Park:
Auchinleck Talbot
Lochee Harp
Sauchie Juniors
Stoneyburn
In the past, there were other Beechwood Parks too:
Leith Athletic
Thistle (in Dalmarnock, near Celtic Park)

Here's a football challenge ahead of Celtic's Sunday game.
Auchinleck Talbot usually play at Beechwood Park - a name shared with at least six other teams.
What's the most common name for a football ground (in Scotland or elsewhere)?
A thread...
