Headshot of Makia Jayne Text: student spotlight, Makia Jayne, Master of Science in Agricultural Education
“I started this path because I did not grow up with a formal agricultural education; however, I am passionate in the agricultural industry and the growth of students. I grew my agricultural knowledge through helping my family raise cattle and showing cattle in 4-H. I also watched my dad mentor youth through coaching high school sports. I wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to give back to my community one that combined my passion for agriculture as well as supporting youth.”
Makia Jayne grew up raising and showing cattle with her family, giving her a passion for the agricultural industry and mentoring youth. This led her to pursue the master’s program in Agricultural Education here at Oregon State.
