“I really do…not hate you anymore….”

Okay, O’Brien. Heh.

“Faces” gave us the first real glimmer of quiet, gentle, loving, supportive Tom. Until then I’d been getting the sense the show wanted to pair her with Harry but their chemistry in this episode was awesome. Future Wife Guy’s first appearance.

The only thing that engages my attention less than a Klingon-Empire-intrigue episode is a Ferengi episode. Sorry. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh, God, the first “vision quest”

(The quotes are because of the lack of actual guidance from indigenous people not because I devalue the actual thing.)

Something I’m not sure I clocked on previous rewatches is that at first, Janeway doesn’t use rank with the new Maquis crewmembers: she consistently calls B’Elanna “Ms. Torres,” for instance.

The fact that the bitter womanizer Tom Paris we meet in “Caretaker” will become the ultimate devoted Wife Guy is really kind of amazing.

It does get one thing wrong: “Tell the truth about what happened here” would have absolutely no effect today. None. The people who sympathized with the sanctuary districts would already be outraged and the others would be celebrating.

“Causing people to suffer because you’ve forgotten how to care” perfectly encapsulates our current era as much as it does the fictional 2024.

2024 felt so far in the future during S3 of DS9. Now I’m just sad about how close we are to creating the world of “Past Tense.”

“Fascination” hits me so hard in my secondhand embarrassment squick that it’s hard to watch.

My brother, unprompted and very correctly: Deanna saved everybody! She’s a good pilot. If she weren’t a counselor and a therapist she could pilot the Enterprise.

So did they say what other galaxy class ship Geordi snarfed a stardrive section from for the Enterprise in Picard and I forgot or am I supposed to assume he rebuilt it atom by atom?

My brother’s comment on Emotion Chip Data: He’s kind of robot drunk

🤣

(I’m not sure if he remembers the life form song. Can’t wait.)

Data: I feel so bad about annoying Doctor Crusher and not being more human that I would like to install this emotion chip so I can feel emotions

I’m not saying you have to be *reckless* to be a captain of the Enterprise but Harriman is weirdly indecisive. I get that he has the press AND Kirk on his bridge but, again, he’s a captain of the *Enterprise*.

Sisko: *long pause* Mmmmmm…yes.

Odo: *delighted smirk*

Heh. 🤣

O’Brien’s Cardassian lawyer was in two of the very best episodes of “The Twilight Zone” ever.

USS Valdemar The USS Valdemar was a 24th century Federation starship operated by Starfleet. In 2370 the Valdemar was dispatched to the border of the Cardassian Demilitarized Zone, following the arrest of Starfleet...

Well, well, it seems there’s a Mercedes Lackey fan naming Starfleet ships.

“He’s still at Cambridge, isn’t he?”

Okay, I’m sorry, I can accept a lot of things in service of a narrative, but not Geordi losing touch with Data.

Also, Future Geordi’s kids being Bret, Alandra, and Sydney tells me that he must’ve been the one to have named his kids in either timeline.

Picard becoming “unstuck in time” in an episode with Andreas Katsulas makes me giggle in Babylon 5. The only thing that would have made it better would’ve been for it to have been Tim Choate.

I get that Bariel was trying to protect Kai Opaka but by trying to protect her, Bariel let Winn become Kai. Coward move.

I’m not a huge fan of Klingon episodes but I do enjoy “Blood Oath” for the mere fact that instead of just changing the appearance of Klingons in general, Kang, Kor, and Koloth show up as TNG-era Klingons without an ounce of explanation. 🤣

Do I *like* the Worf/Deanna romance? Absolutely not. I was an imzadi gal from the age of 9 when TNG premiered.

Is it set up better than most people give it credit for? Yes. They get friendlier as she helps with Alexander.

Am I glad it goes away? Also yes.

I don't care what anyone else says - "Masks" is admittedly ridiculous but it's lots of fun.

You’ve a debt to them to fill”
