Interestingly, for me at least, the cover photo is by Raymond Depardon who took a famous series of amazing photos of a Glasgow most of us here are glad to see the back of.

I'm probably late again to the party but it's terrific. Historically interesting, morally complex, it explores identity, belonging and the deep roots of colonialism.
Mainly though, it's just a beautifully written and engaging story. I couldn't recommend it enough. #alicezeniter
