It would be interesting if FTL doesn't exist yet in #AlienEarth, and a hybrid does invent it. So, Maginot & Nostromo travel at close-to-but-still-sub-light, but 50ish yrs later, Sulaco goes FTL.
Alas, #AlienPrometheus makes its trip pre-AE to that Engineer outpost in only 4 yrs. Definitely FTL.

From what I can piece together from prequels + #AlienROMULUS, Xenomorphs produce Black Goo(tm) in their bodies that's responsible for their ability to take on traits of hosts and over time, their evolution into apex predators & ultimate survivors.
