Federal jury in civil case deciding whether former officer #JosephMensah used excessive force on #AlvinCole in 2020 #PoliceShooting say they are hung after over 5 hours of deliberations. Judge asks them to try again. This would be second trial where jury said they were hung. Entering hour 6 soon.
The trial ended in a hung jury. At the end of the day, armed US Marshals came into the courtroom, raising issues with attorneys and people in the gallery. Another trial looking at the shooting of #AlvinCole by #JosephMensah is expected in September.

In two cases reviewed for this story ( #AlvinCole and #RobertoZeilinski ), officers who initially said they didn't see a gun pointed at other officers and thus contradicted their colleagued changed their stories when talking to the district attorney. #PoliceShootings #MAIT
#LawEnforcement keep a close eye on families of people killed by police in the Milwaukee-area. The sister of #AlvinCole was/is monitored because "she's a leader" and "people follow leaders," a police captain said in a deposition. Police have also gathered intel on people using the #TIME database.
