First rehearsal went great!! We had to discuss heavy real-world events to set the mood! Oh man, it was difficult. Then we did a wall-through with those events in mind. These actors are incredible! First rehearsal and I was already fighting back the tears! #TheatreLife #Directorslife #AmericanSon

I start rehearsals for #AmericanSon. Been trying to emotionally prepare myself for this. This show is HEAVY! I told the cast that we will end each rehearsal doing something fun or crazy just to cleanse and leave on an up note. If yall have any fun & quick activities please share w/me. #theatrelife

I have my first meeting for my next show, #AmericanSon, today. It is a really tough story dealing w/ African-American men’s relationship w/police. The historical issues are deep here in America &, unfortunately, part of our history. #BlackHistoryMonth

So I get three weeks vacation then I start on the next show, #AmericanSon. If you know this play you know how heavy it is. I don't normally do straight dramas. I prefer satire. Something deep & important but told w/laughter. But my friend asked me to direct it for a fundraiser & I couldn't say no.

really enjoyed @kerrywashington sheer artistry in #americanson. She absolutely elevated the material, parts of which were brilliant, parts of which were schematic, too hastily introduced (Stokes as a character - not given enough time to imprint). Her acting carries this. see it.
