Revisited Aspendos this afternoon. The weather wasn't great, so I'm not sure if my camera photos will be an upgrade from my previous visit in 2013. Anyway, it was wonderful to be back. Here are some photos taken with my iPhone. #ArchaeologyTravel

This morning, exploring the archaeological site of Sillyon, one of the lesser-known but striking ancient cities of the Antalya region. Perched dramatically on a steep hill in the region of ancient Pamphylia, it combines natural defensibility with a long, multi-layered history. #ArchaeologyTravel

The current study for the third volume of ORIGINS, whose title will be MIGRATIONS (end of 2024), has led me to discover several new facts.
The first discovery is that sled dogs all originate from a group of dogs from 9,500 years ago found on the island of Zhokhov in the New Siberian archipelago (figure below).
The practice of sled dog riding is at least that old, since remains of sleds dating back to the same period have been found in Zhokhov (some ski blades, a harness and other tools); indeed, some clues suggest that sled transport is probably even older.
Following the work done in the two previous volumes, in this new book I have tried to reconstruct the appearance of these ancient Arctic dogs, as well as the other dogs I discuss in the book, through the remains found, thanks to the use of new technologies (Artificial Intelligence). 1/2
