Ed Le Brocq stands beside the painting 'I Am a Centaur' by Jaq Grantford. The portrait shows a topless, tattooed man whose body blends seamlessly with that of a brown horse. The man's hands are on his hips (also the horse's shoulders) and he looks at the viewer. The likeness is excellent. In the foreground, the real-life Ed wears a black jacket and red-and-white neckerchief

Artist Jaq Grantford, who has a trans child, asked to paint Ed as an act of allyship. Ed asked to be a centaur, said to spurn violence for wisdom & a name his wife calls him to reflect his "acceptance of his true self". 'I Am a Centaur' was a 2024 #ArchibaldPrize finalist.
