Working down the drawing and adding a window, led to adding a bit more to the darker tones of the brickwork. The drawing is steadily getting to a state that I am happy with.

Maenan Old Hall, looking toward the entrance at the lower end. We were told 'no interior photography' so I had to have a go at some of the 1582 plasterwork covering the 1509 cruck. This is as far as I got after the owner had finished telling us about the hall and a painting on the wall. Then it was time to move on.

A detailed woodcut-style print on textured deckle-edged paper depicting a cross-section view of a wooden beehive box. The interior reveals multiple horizontal layers of golden honeycomb filled with hexagonal cells in warm amber, orange, and yellow tones. At the center of the composition, a prominently featured queen bee with an elongated abdomen is highlighted against a glowing golden background. Approximately a dozen honeybees surround the hive structure — some crawling along the wooden frame, others depicted mid-flight around the exterior. The bees are rendered in classic black and golden-yellow stripes with detailed wing patterns. The wooden hive frame shows visible grain texture in rich brown and ochre tones. The bottom layer contains darker, irregular comb structures suggesting brood cells. The overall color palette is warm gold, amber, and black against the cream-white paper background, creating a rich, naturalistic illustration reminiscent of vintage botanical or scientific engravings.
