These are design illustrations of UW's Centennial Hall. Envisioned as a horizontal skyscraper across campus, it opened in 1972 reflecting both late-Modernist architecture and the university's desire to be an open centre of urban reform.

This photo of the intersection of Cunard and Hunter streets, looking northeast at West End Supplies with the Olympic Hall on the left, is an early colour photo in the #HfxArchives collection. It was taken by businessman Ernie Retsken on a 1956 trip to Halifax. #ArchivesColourTheory
