I came across a miscatalogued photograph, simply titled “Wrestler and referee” and dated to the late 1930s. However, all evidence suggests it shows Godfrey on his way to the ring at #ArenaNacional.

Boxer George Godfrey visited Mexico in 1931. On January 1st of that year, he fought at #ElToreo, where he defeated Salvatore Ruggirello. He stayed in the country a few more days and, unintentionally, ended up rescuing the wrestling season at #ArenaNacional.
