I’m making an #Abecedary book “A is for Altadena”
My challenge: to precisely align the A B C wood type to the already-printed descriptions.

I have been taking a #Letterpress class at the #ArmoryCenterForTheArts in Pasadena, CA and last night I began printing an #ABeCeDary limited edition book, #AisForAltadena #Altadena #EatonFire

(Take that stress about fire-driven lead contamination and handle lead type week after week after week!)

Six words set in wood type lay on the bed of a letterpress printer. There are rollers for ink and gears with teeth on either side of the bed to guide the paper roller as it is hand-cranked over the type.

This (how to clean art that was damaged by smoke) came up in a conversation today with another person whose home has damage from the #EatonFire
I mentioned that I had learned of it while getting a painting restored at #ArmoryCenterForTheArts in Pasadena.

#ArmoryCenterForTheArts Conservator Day was excellent. 📸 the process for cleaning a smoke-damaged painting. Wiping gently with cosmetic sponges, brushing the surface with a HEPA vacuum nearby to pull up the dust and soot.

Saw neighbors, saw other great art, signed up for a class. #EatonFire
