Atmospheric halos

I think you've captured a sun halo in that lovely sky picture (pink bright V shape), probably an upper tangent arc, or less likely (but more exciting!) a Parry arc 🌞

A real #sunset treat on Fri 20 Mar '26, a #SunPillar + #UpperTangentArc! Tangent arcs change shape dramatically with changing sun altitude so this was a deep V-shape that was sunset pink colour. Photos taken from #Oxfordshire, UK with a #Fairphone4 mobile phone camera #AtmosphericOptics

Good views of the sun today thanks to natural filters of fog this morning and Saharan dust this evening. Great to see the details of sunspot regions 4378, 4381 and 4384 😎🛬 #atmosphericoptics

Caught these rare Light Pillars dancing in the sub-zero air. It happens when flat ice crystals (diamond dust) turn the sky into a giant mirror, reflecting city lights into vertical beams. Pure magic at -20°C! 🌌📸#LightPillars #AtmosphericOptics #NightPhotography #WinterMagic

Lots of #LightPillars appeared between 02:00-03:30UT on 10/11 Jan 26 on our auroracam & meteor cameras in Oxfordshire, UK. The more I watch the video the more faint pillars I can see! Light pillars form when unshielded lights reflect of flat plate ice crystals in the atmosphere #AtmosphericOptics

#Corona around Jupiter, 10 Jan '26. 4sec exposure with 300mm zoom lens. Jupiter + 3 moons are slightly trailed but I needed long exposure to pick up the colours. Coronas are caused by diffraction around water droplets. Oxfordshire, UK #AtmosphericOptics

Nighttime winter scene in Fairbanks, Alaska. A snow-covered road with deep tire tracks runs straight into the distance. Beyond the road, bright city lights create numerous tall, vertical light pillars rising into the dark sky. The pillars vary in brightness and height, forming pale white and bluish columns above the horizon beneath a low cloud layer.

Vertical light pillars above a snowy landscape in Fairbanks, Alaska at night. A bright orange light source near the ground produces a vivid orange pillar extending upward, surrounded by multiple white and bluish pillars from nearby lights. Leafless shrubs and small trees appear in silhouette in the foreground, with snowbanks and a low ridge separating the viewer from the lights.

Some funky atmospheric optics on the LIVE Sky Cameras this morning. Here’s a timelapse and All-Sky photo.

I was thinking moonbow, but I’ve never seen one this shape before (it's not very curved !). I’d welcome any expert opinions on this.
