#TavQotD #Aunova I really wanted a spacey/celestial name for my girl while I was designing her. Eventually the idea of mixing two words together popped into my head.

So, her name comes from putting 'Aurora' and 'Nova' together to get "Aunova"!!

To Aunova's detriment, she is too self-aware. She's concerned people will leave her, due to the trauma of being left behind by her adoptive parents, and losing her other guardian soon after.

Some days are better than others, but that self-awareness does help mask it.

I have two other characters that are more relevant to her (Aunova's) whole thing, especially with post-BG3 lol.

[Takes place roughly between Act 1 and 2] When the darkest thoughts take over a person’s mind, when sorrow and anxiety grip a mind and does not let go for days…what is one to do? Is there a right answer? No. There are pieces of advice one could give, different methods that work for one person, but not another. Perhaps worse: a method may work once, but then never again. Some pieces of the mind hold on tighter to that fear than they do for joy. That much is apparent to Aunova, who stares at the ceiling of her tent, frustrated at her inability to trance. Despite her best efforts to rest, no semblance of respite has come on this night.

[Takes place in Act 2, poor girl is scared and angry] “I’ve had visions of standing over his dead body, coated in his blood. I’m on my knees, stabbing, stabbing, stabbing… My face, my hands are drenched in the ichor that he so craved. It drips from my chin and back onto his body or onto the floor. ‘Finally,’ I think to myself, ‘I can live without the fear of looking over my shoulder.’ I cannot fucking wait until he’s dead.”

[Takes place in Act 3, after a certain long rest cutscene perhaps?] “What?” Aunova is broken out of her reverie, quickly pulling her shirt back down. “High spirits. You are in high spirits.” Shadowheart’s lips morph into a sly grin, letting Aunova know that she knows. “Oh, humph, you… could say that.” Her hands brush along the spine of the book, tracing the edges with the pads of her soft fingers, “I certainly feel more at ease than I did last morning, that much is true.” “I wonder why that could be…” Aunova coughs, lightly, avoiding her gaze. Shadowheart’s grin only widens as she continues to tease her.

[Takes place in Act 3, is said by Aunova towards her ex.] “Do you know what the saddest part of our story is? I loved you; I believed that I loved you. And when I love someone, it’s with all that I am. But all you know is how to abuse one’s love, to twist it, to break it. This city won’t miss you. I won’t miss you. I don’t need to pretend anymore; I know what’s real.” “For all your empty words and actions, you did do one thing for me though; you taught me to never settle for less.”

I'm not really used to sharing writing, but I'm trying to do better about that...so I'm starting small.

Anyway, these are just some random short sentences from my work in progress writing for Aunova that I like quite a bit.

I've thought about this one a lot, and truthfully, I have a hard time thinking about Aunova dying. There are a couple options such as a “Bad Ending” to her quest that occurs when she is unable to hunt Harvey in the city or being ambushed in the final confrontation [of said quest]. I haven’t really decided and I’m unsure of whether I like what I’ve currently come up with anyway. Additionally, I have an idea for a ‘death’ that could occur later on, one where, she would weigh her options when solving a dungeon’s puzzle and decide that her dying would balance the scales into her and her party’s favor. This is something I believe that Astarion would HATE but would accept after he sees that she gained something by testing the puzzle. I have yet to flesh out this idea, but it essentially leads to her living longer than a typical elf would.

Tavember Day 25: Death
(Gonna finish it up, I promise!!)

This one makes me sad to think about, and I'm unsure of whether it's 'good' or not, but I think its a good exercise regardless. Ultimately I don't know if I'll use this! I'm just thinking aloud, really.

Aunova's mentor was an elf that lived in the woods surrounding Silverymoon (tentatively named Judith). After her adoptive family disappeared, she took Aunova in and trained her proper in the ways of a ranger.

I think Aunova would be generally have the same personality in a modern world, but her job might be something a little different. Maybe a fashion designer? I'm honestly not sure! Armand (her cat) would have the best life possible.

For the first 20ish years of her life, Silverymoon was home, but after leaving and living in Baldur's Gate for over 90, she would consider the city to be her home up until she and Astarion leave to travel. In the end, anywhere with Astarion is home.

Tavember Day 21: Food

Aunova's favorite meals revolve around meats; sausages, steaks, etc. She loves fish too, especially fresh from Baldur's Gate. She hates mushrooms and won't touch any dishes with them if she can help it. Her real food addiction though, is cheese.

Tavember Day 20: Secret

I guess Aunova's biggest secret is that she and her latest bounty target share a history. One that she hates and has never told anyone else about; she would rather not think about if not for taking on the bounty. Or maybe it is that...

Due to her past, Aunova struggles to form bonds, and for a while didn't allow herself to get close to anyone because she feared being unloved. But with the tadpoled party, and especially with Astarion, she allows herself to relearn how to love without fear again. :']

In terms of fashion, Aunova usually prefers function, BUT if she’s looking for a new look, well she should LOOK good too; she just can’t help herself. That’s why she gravitates towards things like the Penumbral Armour or the Elven chain even.

Tavember Day 18: Love Language

I think Aunova simply loves spending time with those that she loves. She's also happy to receive gifts and exchange them; she'll go out of her way to gift practical things where possible. She loves a good kissy too sometimes.

Tavember Day 17: Childhood

Her childhood was mostly uneventful from what she remembers, but the truth is she remembers very little. Aunova blocked a lot of memories out after her parents disappeared from Silverymoon when she was about 16. Beyond that, things are clearer.

I think the biggest change is that Aunova was able to relearn how to trust other people and allow herself to be cared for again. She's had a super rough time with forming bonds, so that was huge for her.

Aunova never knew her bio family, but her adopted one abandoned her when she was an older teen. She was taken in afterwards by her teacher up until she left Silverymoon.

Tavember Day 14: Date Night

Walking through a marketplace or wandering around a city, filling the time with chatter about anything and everything is ideal for Aunova. She doesn't need grand gestures, she just wants to know there's something real between her & her partner.
