It's been a home-bound week.
I wrote three chapters, then succumbed to the siren song of a new project.
Does anyone else dance back and forth between writing projects? How many at a time?

In these execrable times, I'm taking it easy on myself, the only way to stay semi-sane. Thus, I'm focusing on the joy of writing, not the grind of publishing. Books will get done when they're done. It's not a competition. You?

Researching this one was fascinating--and gut-wrenching, as I read accounts by female military docs who served in combat zones as well as survivors of oil rig fires. I also learned about PTSD symptoms and therapies. Sounds heavy, but there's a romance, a cute dog, and a ghost too!

Day 17 of #AuthorAugust25

On a purple and white background with dark blue sprayed edges are images that represent #DomesticBodies, my debut poetry collection. In the center, is the books cover with a dress form that has a lilac purple apron over a lavender strap dress; the background is knives and blue flowers.
In the top left, there is a couple in dark blue embracing by water. The man is lifting up the woman.
Below that, there is a picture of a manual chair from the wheels on down with a shadow on a white tile floor
The bottom image on the left is made up of four hands of various sizes and skin tones with two of them being bigger and having wedding rings.
The first image on the right is an older man praying in a graveyard with the grass and other foliage being blue.
The last image is of three hospital beds with partition curtains open.

Across the bottom is the link to my book.

I’m now more of a morning writer; though to be fair, I am also a “I have five minutes so I’ll scribble in a notebook while I have a chance” writer. No more late nights writing for me!

I would love a writing retreat at an Air B&B with my writing group, so us morning writers could work in the day and read at night while the night writers crank their words out.

How lovely to write until I run out of words, then walk on the beach to replenish.
Give me cloudy skies, squadrons of pelicans, sandpipers sprinting, cool tide pool critters, and Mother Ocean's soft breath. Perfect!

#AuthorAugust25 Day 13 - How to deal with writer's block

I just write something else.

Another Author August for day 12.

Ice cream mudslide skids the length
of the peeling countertop. All affected
survived without a scream. Quiet cleaning
efforts commenced. The kids, only young
for a blink of time, remember gentle Sundays,
sticky hands, and sudsy water… a recipe
they passed down to their own babies.

-"Untitled 4" (a poem)
