As always, we invite you to join us for dinner at 18:00, this time with a Peruvian speciality. And at 19:00 the film ‘La disparition’ (The Disappearance) will be shown. This documentary film traces the slow dying out of the Taushiro tribe, as well as the resistance embodied in their last members. We also invite you to join us for a discussion after the film on the topics it addresses: the cultures and languages of indigenous peoples and their destruction through colonisation and genocide. "In northern Peru, deep in the Amazon jungle, Amadeo is the last Taushiro. He is old, his body is tired, and he knows he will soon die. We follow him in his solitude and rituals. He uses his native language to talk to trees, to the spirits of the animals he hunts, and to his brother who died years ago. By following him closely, the film suggests a larger narrative: the destruction of the Amazon, the disappearance of indigenous peoples and their cultures."
