Balak and Balaam | Numbers 22:2-24:25 Balak wanted Balaam to curse Israel. YHWH would allow Balaam to only speak blessings. Israel remained oblivious to it all.

Balak could not meet Israel on equal ground; he needed to have them cursed. Balaam would only speak what YHWH told him to say.

Israel was momentarily oblivious to it all. Despite all their failings, YHWH upheld and blessed them.
