5 alders voted no: Cohn, Narayan, Sonnier, Tyus & Aldridge.
Note that Cohn made the motion to reconsider BB 68😡
FWIW: Sonnier & Aldridge both voted in favor of #BOAbb68 at the #HUDZ hearing.
😂😢😡
It’s bonkers.
FYI: The correct vote tally on #BOAbb82 is included in this post:

I haven’t deleted the original as it’s in the middle of a 16 skeet 🧵 from yesterday’s BOA. Focus on BB 82 & #BOAbb68 for the #Cortex353 blight extension. Equally bonkers!
Having voted to reconsider #BOAbb68, the BOA resumed debate on the bill.

I think Browning's service on the Cortex board presents a conflict of interest that should have precluded his sponsorship of #BOAbb68
Browning should have recused himself from all BOA deliberations on the bill.

Ward 12 Ald. Tyus once again voted against #BOAbb68. She said she doesn’t think the board should give nongovernment entities the power to use eminent domain.

Flashback to Oct. 7 #HUDZ hearing on #BOAbb68
In response to a Q from Ald. Sonnier, Cortex CEO Sam Fiorello gave a public storage building* next to the (former) Goodwill** as an example of a property for which eminent domain might be used in the future.

Update on #BOAbb68 #Cortex353 debate:
Ald. Browning did correct himself, stating that eminent domain was previously employed at the ikea site.
IIRC, I believe the reason for use of eminent domain by Cortex West Redev. Corp. was to clear clouded title to facilitate a sale by a willing owner.
Alderman Cohn motions to reconsider Zombie blight #BOAbb68 for #Cortex353
Approved with 8 (?) ayes and 2 nos.
Thx to Narayan & Tyus on voting no.
Shame on all those who voted aye.
Beware the Zombie 🧟♀️ blight in #BOAbb68
The original blight approval for the #Cortex353 redev. area was approved in 2005.
20 yrs of blight is enough.
Wash. U has hired lobbyist D. Sweeney. Wash. U’s agenda probably includes the passage of BB 68. WU & Cortex want to extend the eminent domain rights.
Happy #BOAfriday, especially to those St. Louis BOA officials who will oppose the reconsideration of #BOAbb68 , which didn’t gain sufficient votes for final passage at the Oct. 24 meeting.
#Cortex353
🎃 At Friday’s BOA meeting, beware the possible return of #BOAbb68 for the zombie 🧟♂️ blight for the #Cortex353 redevelopment area.
Remind your alder to #VoteNOonBB68

I attended the panel discussion at today’s “We are Cortex” event.
I skipped the “free” lunch, but did let Cortex know that I want to see an end to the blight & eminent domain in Board Bill 68.

Cortex’s full court lobbying press is no doubt in high gear for #BOAbb68

BB 68 extends the bight determination for the #cortex353 redevelopment area for 5 more years & extends eminent domain rights.

The comms/marketing team at Cortec has been prolific over the past month. I suspect this activity to subside after the St. Louis Board of Aldermen approves #BOAbb68
