That about wrap ups the outstanding Raider and Civilian units for #Babylon5Wars. There are a few more, but I don't think anything too notable. I'm just glad to finally have the Civilian Freighter and friends into a printable state now after multiple attempts!
The Raider Xebec is another Fast Freighter conversion, but this time the forward pods are converted so each carries a medium laser in addition to the standard particle beam. This is one of the Raider's better ships in the #Babylon5Wars tabletop game due to the wide arcs on those medium lasers.
Once I know the ships have printed correctly, I can go back in and make the various Raider variants of these ships from the old #Babylon5Wars tabletop game. That will allow me to knock out a good half dozen Civilian/Raider ships for the February release!
Here's my first take on redesigning the Abbai Lakara Cruiser from #Babylon5Wars. I removed most of the industrial design elements from the ship, giving it a more rounded look. I tried retaining as much of the original design elements as I could, while keeping the ship consistent with the other Abbai
From the old #Babylon5Wars tabletop game, I recreated the Alacan Rotia light fighter. The Alacans were the first minor empire to be conquered by the Dilgar according to the old game lore, and this was their small, extremely bad fighter.
I do intend to eventually go in and create 3d models based off of the original #Babylon5Wars 2E Minbari ship art that was abandoned and replaced before they made miniatures for those ships. Here's four of those ships for reference. I plan to use them as Minbari Protectorate ships.
Once the Sharlin is done, I can then scale it up and adjust its armament a bit to complete the Shargoti Battlecruiser, which in #Babylon5Wars is a larger Sharlin with a slightly different mix of weapons. So, progress is (finally) being made on getting the Minbari fleet fleshed out!
Dilgar Garasoch Heavy Carrier
Dilgar Tratharti-G Heavy Gunship
Dilgar Ochlavita Destroyer
A few Dilgar ships from #Babylon5Wars for your Sunday morning. A funny bit of trivia is that the Tratharti was effectively just a variant of the Ochlavita in the original Dilgar War Playtest Pack, but its heavier armament meant they "upgraded" it to be a full capital ship instead of a HCV. #babylon5
The Brakiri Corumai Dreadnought from #Babylon5Wars. This was the big Brakiri dreadnought from the Dilgar War, being deployed in 2230. Large and expensive, there were not many Corumai ever built. They were largely useful as large artillery platforms, thanks to their graviton beam armament #Babylon5
One of the more fun bits of my #Babylon5Wars #3dmodeling project has been to go back and do #miniatures for the Orieni War era Centauri from about 200 years before the time of the show. Below are some pics of the Orto Troop Transport, which is old enough it still had a rotating section for gravity.
Oh, and one of the old #Babylon5Wars players has been uploading videos of #FieryVoid matches up to their YouTube channel for those that want to see how games play out without actually jumping into a match - they are doing replays of matches using the client's player: www.youtube.com/@SporadicDig...
The Babylon 5 Wars Vault (b5warsvault.wikidot.com) is a great repository that includes downloadable versions of the old #Babylon5Wars supplements for those that want to go back and take a look at the game rules and contents.
@tyrellohr.bsky.social I've been loving your #Babylon5Wars posts and been wondering. Is there a community online that's running the game and can someone like me, who don't own any of the editions, get into it?
Some #WIP shots of the #3dmodel of the Corillani Botral light cruiser from #Babylon5Wars. The Corillani are one of the minor alien empires that #AOG introduced in the game, and I believe they were a former Narn conquest but my memory is hazy. They use some leftover Centauri tech and plasma weapons.
The EA Perseus Minesweeper from #Babylon5Wars #Babylon5, or more specifically based on the *notes* about the ship that existed only in the EA Playtest Pack. The ship is interesting in that it's a small ship equipped with Centauri twin arrays! Why? I guess the EA felt they were better against mines?
Canonically in #Babylon5Wars, the Vree Xill Battle Saucer was first deployed with antimatter cannons like those found on the Xorr War Saucer. The ship was later refitted to add the iconic antimatter shredders we saw during the modern era in #Babylon5. Here's the ship with those old turrets in place.
Orbital defense satellites (OSATs in #Babylon5Wars parlance) are not sexy. There, I said it. As with starbases, most people will never actually play a game with them -- which is oddly amusing, given that the game is based on a series that focuses on the titular space station #Babylon5.
The Vree Tzymm Heavy Fighter / Xaar Patrol Boat, depending on if you're using them with #Babylon5Wars or #ACallToArms. I remodeled this based on the original #B5W Tzymm miniature, taking a picture of the top of the miniature and loading it into #Rhino to get the proportions right then detail it out.
I had a LOT of angry people complaining about my #Babylon5Wars Star Trek conversions back in the day. I mean, really, really angry. Sorry, guys, I was trying to make the ships actually fun to play against other pew pew spaceships. Sorry (not sorry).
This morning I was working on the Deneth Sentry from #Babylon5Wars. My workflow in #Rhino is to load the #B5W ship silhouette into the Top view to block out the basic shape and dimensions, then once I'm happy with that I go in and start detailing the model.
The Civilian Bulk Freighter from the #Babylon5 #Babylon5Wars game. The silhouette made this ship look pretty cylindrical, so I ran with that and then gave it a color and hull paneling scheme similar to that of the Luxury Liner. The ship is odd in that it has two plasma cannons like the Hyperion's.
Raider Dragonship - the silhouette I had to work with
Raider Dragonship - front view
Raider Dragonship - top view
Raider Dragonship - side view
The #Raider Dragonship from #Babylon5Wars is another good example of me taking a silhouette from the game and turning it into a printable #3dmodel. I imported a shot of the sil into #Rhinoceros and then used it to block out the shape of the ship, then started adding details like weapons & thrusters.
The EA Poseidon Supercarrier from #Babylon5Wars #Babylon5. This ship took a long time to model. I used the full scale metal mini as a reference point, and then tried to fill in some additional details where appropriate to try and capture the size and scale of this massive ship. A big project!
When I got back into #3dmodeling in 2022, I made it my goal to go in and model all of the miniatures from #Babylon5Wars that never had models available during AOG's run of the game. This has been a fun (if daunting) project, as there were a LOT of factions released for the game over the years.
#Babylon5Wars was a table top tactical combat game published by #AgentsOfGaming set in the #Babylon5 universe. Released in 1997, the game went through two editions before being discontinued. The Babylon 5 Wars vault is a great resource for those that want to check it out: b5warsvault.wikidot.com
The Dilgar Leskrati Jumpcruiser from #Babylon5Wars. This was one of the Dilgar ships that never got a full scale miniature, and the fleet action scale miniature was really low effort. It was fun trying to extrapolate what this should should look like based on the weapons load out and silhouette.
The Centauri Armus/Capet Long Range Freighter, an old Orieni War era Centauri ship from #Babylon5Wars. These large freighters were build for endurance. The Armus was the standard model, the Capet equipped a jump drive. Several of them were "acquired" by Raiders and turned into raiding command ships.
The Pak'ma'ra P'shul'shi Dreadnought from #Babylon5Wars. As with may Pak ships, I ended up having to increase the thickness of this ship after doing a few test prints before I was happy with how it looked on the table. Which reminds me, I really need to finish painting my Pak'ma'ra fleet...
The Drazi Shrike Heavy Destroyer, an Orieni War era ship from the Wars of the Centauri Republic supplement for #Babylon5Wars. This ship was interesting because it had a flat wing pattern with guns slung under the main wings. The #3dmodel is available to buy on Cults: cults3d.com/en/3d-model/...
The Grome Mogorta Warship is a ship from #Babylon5Wars. Like a lot of the ships I've created #3dmodels for from that game, all I had to work with was a top down silhouette. I relied on the number of weapons and thrusters on the ship control sheet to determine what kinds of details to add to the ship
