Badeschiff, Berlin 2004 - image: Gab Kiess The Badeschiff is a vessel converted into a swimming pool that lies in the River Spree in Berlin. This way, people can still swim in the Spree without coming into contact with the polluted water. The project was conceived and realised in 2002 by Susanne Lorenz and the Spanish architectural group AMP Arquitectos. It was their entry in a competition launched by Stadtkunstprojekte e.V.. The Badeschiff was opened in 2004 and is operated by Arena Berlin. Gab Kiess sees the great in the small and often photographs it from an extraordinary point of view. Her choice of themes is very diverse and she frequently portrays them in unexpected ways. Gab Kiess explains her skills to the people who participate in the photo tours she organizes to various European cities.
