🌍 Shoebill (Balaeniceps rex) The Shoebill is a large, grey, prehistoric-looking wading bird with a distinctive, massive, shoe-shaped bill. It is found in freshwater swamps and marshes of central and eastern tropical Africa, particularly in Uganda, South Sudan, and Tanzania. They are solitary and highly territorial, often standing motionless for extended periods, "statue-like," before striking with surprising speed to ambush prey like lungfish, other fish, and even young crocodiles. They are largely silent but engage in bill-clattering. 2.5 Flash (Edited) Conservation status: Vulnerable (IUCN 3.1) 📷: Photo by PetrCZ via Pixabay https://pixabay.com/photos/bird-animal-beak-eyes-feathers-5473356/ VCTY
